We are glad to see a growing emphasis on mental well-being alongside physical health for men.
But even still, men often avoid seeking help for emotional or psychological struggles. This can lead to serious consequences like depression, anxiety, and even suicide.
Key Statistics:
Men are 4 times more likely than women to die by suicide.
They are 2 to 3 times more likely to use substances like alcohol and drugs to cope.
70% of alcohol-related deaths involve men.
Cultural norms and societal pressures often discourage men from expressing emotions or asking for help, which can worsen mental health issues.
It's vital to shift these outdated views — getting support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
If you or a man you know is struggling, support is available:
Primary Care Physician
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
988 – National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text)
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
Homelessness – West Orange County/Brevard County: Matthew’s Hope
