Have you wondered the difference between coaching and therapy? Both can be beneficial depending on what your season in life looks like. Check out these words from our Volunteer Coordinator and the founder of Au Healing, Kayla Alvarez, about the difference between them.
Life Coaching
With Life Coaching becoming more popular it is extremely important to know the difference so people know which form of care is appropriate for them. Life Coaching works with clients to help improve their quality of life by meeting them where they are, identifying roadblocks, and setting and achieving goals. You can think of Coaching like a gym! We provide the space, resources and equipment but it is up to the client to put in the work to yield the results. Therapy helps clients with their cognitive and emotional skills to help reduce symptoms of mental illness and overcome hard life challenges. Therapy explores their clients past and focuses on the "why" while coaching meets the client where they are and focuses on the "how." While both are great resources, the best option for a client would ultimately depend on what they're looking for and what their needs are!
